Iridology

Since the time of the ancient Greeks, iridology has been used as a ‘window’ into a patient’s health.  As an alternative technique for diagnosis of a person’s physical wellbeing, iridology uses a system of patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris.  Matching up this information to iris charts allows an iridologist to distinguish a healthy system from an unhealthy one.  Iridologists can tell from a person’s iris whether there are overactive organs within the body, inflamed tissues or a distressed system overall.  This in turn can tell the iridologist whether or not the patient is predisposed to certain illnesses or if there are problems which are currently developing within the body.

Generally iridology is not supported scientifically, but alternative medicine usually isn’t.  This is because most medical doctors do not understand the spiritual nature in which our body responds to things.  However, it has been proven time and time again that iridology does work.  This is because practitioners believe that the iris can be divided into several different zones in which correspond to the body.  Contrary to the opinion of medical doctors and physicians, iridologists do not diagnose diseases; rather they simply acknowledge the organs and systems that are predisposed to them.  They can alert a patient to the fact that there may be a problem down the road.  This is of course after taking past medical history into account as well.  It is just another method of predicting a health course for the future, but by no means is it advisable to stop seeing a family practitioner at the same time.  Iridology is practiced at length in Europe where it is widely accepted as a way to see within the body without invasive tests.

Methods of Iridology

There are several methods that iridologists use to detect future illnesses and ailments.  The most common one is the use of slit-lamp microscopes or eye cameras that examine the irises for any tissue changes.  They also look for irregular makeup of the iris as well as specific pigment patterns.  When compared to an iris chart, made up of almost 90 zones of the iris, they can pinpoint whether there are problems with the heart, kidney or any other organ just by looking at very specific features of the iris.  This is because the details of the iris reflect the changes of the body.  For instance, if someone is found to have an inflammatory organ or tissues the iridologist could tell by looking at the change of colors that are detected in the iris in a particular zone.  Whether an iridologist uses a microscope or magnifying glass, iridology is a science that has long been perfected and should be used more often than it is.
