Kinesiologists
Kinesiologists work with the study of kinesiology which literally translated means to move or movement. It may also be referred to as human kinetics. Kinesiology is the science of human movement which generally focuses on physical activity.
Kinesiologists usually work in the health field, sometimes in the research of kinesiology or in the fitness industry, industrial environments or even in clinics. Kinesiologists work to find out how the body moves and functions so that the body itself can be more efficient.
They not only study the science behind the human body but they look for ways that we can be more effective in physical activity such as sports or just doing the day to day activities in which we move such as walking. Kinesiologists also put together programs or exercise routines that help with these activities. For example, for someone that has a sports injury, a kinesiologist may put together an exercise program to help prevent more injury as well as to help rehabilitate the injury that they are facing.
They work together with sports medicine professionals as well as other health providers to work on the biomechanics of a person’s activity. A person will also see a kinesiologist if they feel that their body is not moving properly, if they are having a hard time with exercise or if their body is responding differently during exercises in which they have had no problem doing before.
Kinesiologists will usually perform a routine evaluation in which they put a patient on a treadmill to monitor how the body responds. They may check how a person’s heart rate increases or their breathing levels. By looking at how they exercises they can put together a program that is individually designed for the patient to improve their strength, fitness level, their lungs and any other part of the body that is suffering. This is extremely helpful for those who have been through a debilitating illness or injury.
Last but not least, they work with patients to correct their posture and improve overall flexibility with those who show a need. Benefits of Kinesiology Kinesiologists benefit different people in a variety of ways. Seeing a kinesiologist is ideal for someone who has multiple sclerosis, autism, or other illnesses in which the body doesn’t move correctly. They also go into workplaces and help people learn how to sit properly in their chairs to prevent poor posture and to encourage proper alignment of the spine while sitting.
They can work to enhance learning and boost performance in a sports setting and can help overcome past injuries. Simply put, they eliminate emotional, physical and mental stress as well as help to identify deficiencies in the body, even in the nutritional aspect of it. They can work with people of all ages from babies to the elderly, not just athletes. Even people recovering from surgery can enlist the aid of kinesiologists in order to bring better wellness to their body.
